Get The Credit Card That Will Work In Your Favour!
I think we can all say that, sometimes, being a student sucks: You’re spending your days at school, come home only to hit the books and let’s not forget the fact that you’re probably broke! Finding the best credit card for students can be a little tricky, especially when you don’t have many options.

What Does The PC Financial Credit Card Offer?
The main benefit of the PC Financial Mastercard is the ability to gain PC points on any purchases. These points are identical to cash rebates and can be redeemed at any of the stores under the Presidents Choice banner.
Each card has benefits that include travel medical insurance, car rental collision and repair, identity theft assistance, concierge service, and free extended warranty (double check on the website for full benefits and details).
You can find more details on the PC Financial Credit Card on their website.
This card currently has 3 tiers and they all don’t have any annual fees, which is perfect for students because you need to save all the money you have!
- President’s Choice Financial Mastercard (low tier)
- PC Financial World Mastercard (mid-tier)
- World Elite Mastercard (high tier)
Each card offers 19.97% interest on any purchases, 22.97% cash advances, and a 21 day grace period.

How To Redeem PC Points On Your Grocery Bill
When you checkout, tell the cashier that you want to scan your card for points at any of the PC affiliated stores. You can redeem your points in increments of $10 (10,000 points). The amount you redeem will be taken off your grocery bill, but there are certain restrictions to what you can and cannot spend your points on.
Note: You can’t redeem points where it would cause the till to be at a negative balance.
How Much Are The Points Worth and What Can They Be Used For?
You can redeem $10 for every 10,000 points off your purchase at any of the stores accepting PC Financial Mastercards.
You will receive 10-30 points per $1 spent on any purchase. Since 1000 points are equal to $1. The “cash-like” rebate percentage are as follow.
- President’s Choice Financial Mastercard = 1% (10 points / 1000 points)
- PC Financial World Mastercard = 2% (20 points / 1000 points)
- World Elite Mastercard = 3% (30 points / 1000 points)
PC Financial Points can be used to redeem “most items”. The reason why I say most is because I know for sure you can’t redeem your points on gift cards.
Wait! It Gets Better!
The reason why I love this credit card is
Every week your PC Optimum app procures a new shopping list for you to load onto your account. The PC points will be automatically loaded onto your card at the time of purchase (only when you properly load your offers every week).
The bottom of the receipt will show your current PC Points balance followed by how much you earned from your purchase.
You can double dip your points if you’re buying your offers and paying with your PC Financial Mastercard.
The Best Credit Card For Students? My Overall Thoughts On This Credit Card
This is a pretty swell credit card: I have the World Elite Mastercard and it looks super clean and slick! The plastic wears off over time, but the matte black coating on the card gives it that classy look.
Now you might be wondering, the requirement for the World Elite Mastercard requires you to have an income of $65,000 to be approved. I somehow got it anyways just by signing up online. Give it a try and see if you can get approved for the highest tier! It’s not like you’re going to be paying any extra fees for the higher tier.
I used to bank with TD Trust but later decided to move over to PC Financial because it was offering me a higher return than what TD was offering me.
I know TD Bank currently offers a cash-back reward credit card with a 3% cash rebate for an annual fee of $120. Sounds nice, but why would I bank with TD if PC Financial has no fee?
I never had any issues with PC Financial and it is so easy to sign up! Just sign up online, wait until you get approved, and wait for your new credit card in the mail!
The downside of this Credit Card
If you’re just an average student who just needs point rebates to save money on groceries then this would be the ideal card for you. Food is a necessity and everyone needs to eat (including all those broke students who are living off cup ramen).
Try signing up for the World Elite Mastercard then you can earn 3% on your purchases + the PC Optimum weekly offer bonuses!
The only downsides with PC Financial
Each one is a tier upgrade or level up from the previous one below it, meaning that if you’re trying to find a card with different perks and benefits like low-interest, cash-back, travel rewards, then PC Financial lacks in this option.
